Snow melting in various places at various rates -- we may get back to bare ground before the next storm. I wonder what the crocus blooms are doing under that glacier?
Drawing up detail stuff for the Bridal Boutique this morning. Don't know if Code Enforcement is going to require a floor plan or not -- they've already issued a building permit, but then the inspector started muttering about some details here and there. I can see why -- the lead carpenter was talking about stair details that wouldn't pass muster in this day and age, for a public space.
But if the city wants somebody to sign off on the structure of that place, it won't be me. I don't have a PE license. Granted, the building has stood up against Maine winters for nearly 40 years, but there's some strange shit in there. Retrofit channel iron bolted to a block wall underneath precast double-tee roof structure, for example. Looks an awful lot like _something_ started to fail. Other structural steel poking up 4" above the mezzanine floor, to trip any unwary foot.
Hope the retainer check doesn't bounce.
