Sloppy

Literal and metaphoric messes:

Rained off and on all yesterday -- soft ice (literal) underfoot this morning, but little or no accumulation on the trees and wires. Temperatures supposed to be above freezing today, with sun, so most of the slop and sludge should vanish down our new storm drains.

And if people are going to pretend that college football bowl games have meaning, they should work out a system that avoids putting the teams on ice (metaphoric) for a month and a half between their last regular-season game and the New Year's entertainment. I'm not just talking about Michigan's poor performance -- most of the games have featured damn poor play from supposed premier teams and stars. Seem to be contests of which team wants to lose in the worst way.

Need to wait for a bit more thaw and then drive downtown to the print shop, afterwards distributing copies of the EPA Laundry plans hither and yon. Also need to get back to writing on POWERS.

As Bear quoted, old _old_ joke, "Break's over, folks. Back on your heads."

Exposure to Tom Lehrer can cause brain damage

Okay, I haven't been able to avoid the Presidential Funeral on TV. I'm not sure even leaving the demon box turned off would work -- "they" probably have a remote relay to turn it back on again. Anyway, a line from "National Brotherhood Week" keeps running through my head:

"It's fun to eulogize
"People you despise."

Not that I think any of the politicos actually despised Gerry Ford, or anything...

Of course, then my idiot synergistic brain starts to continue that tune into the bit from "Pancho and Lefty" that goes:

"And the Federales say
"They could have caught him any day.
"They just let him slip away
"Out of kindness, I suppose."

Mommas, don't let your babies grow up to be folksingers.
