Ominous signs

Returning from the morning bike ride, I spotted a bird of ill omen: Sewer project crew unloading a track drill from a low-boy trailer on the second block of our street.

For those outside the nomenclature, a track drill is an air-powered drill, mounted on a crawler chassis. They usually appear in the vicinity of impending doom, I.E. blasting operations. Given that this is glaciated terrain and the location is a low ridge, I would suspect either shallow bedrock or a large glacial erratic (boulder.)

Boom.

Since that location is right in front of Elder Son's apartment building, I suspect he and his apartment-mates may be in for an interesting day.

Random drive-by Klausnering

Well, Harriet has had her way with DRAGON'S EYE:

For the uninitiated in the audience, Harriet Klausner is the gourmand of book reviewers. Of her it has been said, she never met a book she didn't like, and she has reviewed literally thousands of books. And she has been Pooh'd as well -- "Oh, bother," said Pooh, "Harriet Klausner gave away the ending _again_."

Well, she didn't give away the ending, although she threw out plenty of spoilers. You have been warned. But it is quotable:

"This urban fantasy is as good as it gets."
