Glub

Still raining. Even the goldfinches look damp.

In other news, about 2/3 through the copyedit of DRAGON'S EYE. Just came across a note at the end of one chapter: "Powerful chapter." Hey, I didn't know that copyeditors handed out doggie biscuits! Is she setting me up for a later kick in the balls? Is this a subtle implication that the others are weak? Of such insecurities is the writing life built.

The Nice Agent Lady has seen the cover flats and declares them gorgeous. My copies still hide in the depths of the USPS. Perhaps this is a good thing -- our mail got soaked today.

Meanwhile, Wife is cooking up a pot of pea soup for lunch. House smells delicious.

There's a bimbo on the cover of the book...

A male bimbo, not blond, but young and muscular and topless, with soulful eyes. I didn't know I wrote romance novels. At least "Art" twigged that the "dragon" of DRAGON'S EYE is a piece of jewelry. _And_ he is, in point of fact, in the text, so the song missed.

Cover flats received, in other words. They travelled UPS, not USPS, which is why they didn't show up in this morning's mail. I have shipped a scan .jpg off to the (volunteer) guy who manages my (free) SFWA web page, and we shall see how many weeks pass before I can point you few, you favor'd few, you band of siblings, off to see it.

Rain continues. Some areas on the coast have logged 7" of the blasted stuff in this latest storm, which seems excessive. Our local tally is somewhere a tad short of 3".

And thence to bed.
