Wary eye to the sky
Elder Son stopped by yesterday evening, requesting a ride back to his apartment after work. So I finished supper and we headed across town just as some ugly clouds moved in and started to spit rain and lightning.
Coming back, there's this place with a panorama out to the horizon, and some of those clouds were getting lumpy on the bottom. Maine doesn't go in for tornados, as a general rule, but I've lived in Michigan and Illinois and Georgia, prime twister country. Those clouds looked familiar. Wouldn't have taken much more energy to turn _really_ interesting.

We had a microburst take down a tree in the back yard once, a box-elder that was over two feet through, twisted right off eight feet up. Tree fell neatly between our garage, the garage of the house behind it, and the next-door neighbor's garage that was about four feet from the stump....
Yeah, we've watched the progress of Alex on the weather reports. Nicely headed out to sea, going off to bother Ireland or France.
