We put on an abridged version of JULIUS CAESAR when I was in sixth or seventh grade, elementary school. People have been stabbing stage tyrants for nearly five centuries . . .

Bad couple of days for porcupines out there. At least three new corpses on my local loop. Also a couple of gray squirrels and a red squirrel.

Bladder campion blooming, first day lilies, cinquefoil, and probable birdsfoot trefoil. The black locusts haven't killed me yet.

One fragmentary mammal near the cemetery pond, fur color says either muskrat, mink, or woodchuck. All are available. Also one porcupine at about mile 9.5, mostly intact.

First blue flag irises seen, roses in the bog, one patch of orange hawkweed, and the black locusts have started their campaign to suffocate all air-breathers.

Mid 70s F when I headed out on the bike, 84 F when I got home. Did not push for speed. Did not die.
